Primary Campus Still in High Gear As End of the Year Approaches

by Jo Ann Buchanan

May 19, 2008

Dear Pirate Community,

As the end of the year quickly approaches, the teachers and students are in high gear. There is still much work to be done between now and the end of the school year. As outdoor activities begin again, it will be more difficult for the children to stay focused on what they need to do to complete the 2007-08 school year.
The most important thing for all to remember is that instruction will continue up until the last school day. Teachers have much curriculum to cover and it is critical that students continue to do their best until they wave good-bye on the last day. All students will be assessed in one form or another as teachers establish whether the students have mastered grade level skills.
May is always a busy month filled with our traditional events. Our traditional Spring Fling on May 16th was a huge success. Our students participated in many fun filled activities from face painting, bubble blowing, watermelon seed spitting contest and much more.
We are excited to have had 23 Kindergarten students registered for the 2008-2009 school year at our last pre-registration. It is not too late to register if you are new to the area or missed our last registration. You are welcome to come by anytime between Monday and Thursday, 8:00 3:30.
The following is required at the time of registration:
• Certified Birth Certificate
• Complete Immunization Records
• Social Security Card
• Proof of Residence (Current lease or utility bill with parent/guardians name and address)
• Picture ID of the person enrolling the student
• Kindergarten student must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2008
All of us at Lytle Primary appreciate all you do on the home front to support us here at school. With continued effort, the students and the teachers can continue to make progress and have an exciting end to the school year.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Mark your calendars for August 21st 5:30-7:00 for Meet the teacher Night for Kindergarten & 1st grade and August 27th for Head 6:30-8:30.
Hope everyone has a restful and safe summer.
