Greetings from the Jr. High! The time has flown what precious little of it that we have. We are working down to the last weeks of school. This will be a very busy time of the year for all of us. Some dates and times to keep in mind:
5/21--5th grade orientation Jr. High cafeteria 6:30 PM.
5/26--No School
5/27--8th grade Panoramic Picture
6/2--8th grade-Fiesta Texas Trip
6/4--8th grade-Promotion Ceremony
6/5--Last day of school
6/9--Summer school begins
7/1--8th grade-Math Retest
7/2--8th grade-Reading Retest
7/3--Summer school ends
Looking back at the three years we had this eighth graders it is amazing to see the transformation. Not only did the class increase by 21 students but they all matured in to very capable young adults. They brought pride back to the Jr. High. They were able to maintain some extremely high academic standards and set some bars that will be hard to break.
They had 95% pass the Reading TAKS the first time around with 50% of them at commended performance. The 95% beat the state average by two points. On the first administration of math they had 74% pass. This was one point below the state average. The 74% is the highest we have had at the eighth grade ever. This shows the perseverance and tenacity of this group. They are awesome.
Thus, we prepare for our Promotion Ceremony to send this outstanding group of young women and men to the High School. We imagine that this group of students will continue to excel in the High School environment as they have here.
The Class of 2012, we thank you for producing some extraordinary academic accomplishments and being the standard bearers for the rest of the Jr. High. We wish you all the best in your High School careers.
