Softball Update

by Dennis Calaway

April 28, 2008

Days before the game started, we lost the toss deciding who would be home or visitor - we were visitors, so they would have the last bat.

In our first at bat, we scored two runs. Kelsey Camp and Cassie Torres stayed off bad pitches and drew walks. Kadie Englehart slapped a single moving the runners over and loaded the bases for Gabby Carillo who doubles, sending Kelsey and Cassie across the plate. We were up by two. Pearsall responded by scoring two of their own after Shayla Blackburn fanned the first batters with strikeouts. In the second inning, Shayla singled and courtesy runner Kensey Camp scored when her sister Kelsy Camp singled. Pearsall did not have an answer and went scoreless in the second. Third at at bat, Cassie Torres draws another walk, Kadie Englehart hits another single, Gabby Carrillo follows with another base hit, then Jodie does the same and we finish the inning with another three runs, We are up six to two.

Pearsall answers with another two of their own and the score is six to four. There would be no more scoring as both defenses tightened up. Shayla Blackburn finished as the winning pitcher with five strikeouts. Pearsall went home for the season.
