Parents of Lytle ISD

February 19,2008

A bomb threat was called into the Lytle Primary Campus at approximately 9:50 A.M. today, February 19, 2008.  The students were immediately evacuated to the Lytle football stadium.  The police and fire department responded promptly and a search of the campus was conducted.  Nothing suspicious was discovered.  It was determined there was no immediate threat to student safety and students were escorted back to the campus at about  11:00 A.M. The district's SchoolReach program was activated for the parents of the Primary School.  The first message was to inform parents of the threat and to let them know where their children were taken.  The second phone call was to let parents know of the children's safe return to campus.

The High School, Junior High, and Elementary campuses were placed in a minimum lock-down mode until the threat could be resolved.  These campuses were informed when the threat was determined to be false.

Lytle ISD continues to work cooperatively with the City of Lytle Police Department to find and prosecute the person or persons involved in placing these calls.  If you have any information about the person or persons responsible, please report that information to the Lytle Police Department.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience.  We will continue to do our best to protect the children of the district to keep you informed about our efforts.

Sincerely,

Michelle Carroll Smith
