LHS To Host Parent Academy & TAKS Workshops

Lytle High School hosted the first session of the Parent Academy on Thursday, January 24, 2008. Parents were invited to pick up their child’s first semester report card and took advantage of the opportunity to conference with teachers immediately. The evening was a success as almost ninety parents visited the campus. The staff continues to look for ways to include parents in their child’s education – to become an active partner in this important journey. It is our goal that the academy will attract more and more parents, and eventually become a common place for all parents. Session two is scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 2008 @ 5PM. Teachers will be available for conferences from 5 PM-7 PM with a general session to follow.
In an effort to explore ways to help all students experience success, especially with the TAKS, Lytle High School teachers pored over individual student summary reports at the most recent staff development day, analyzing the four-year overview of state assessment scores. Based on the data and on the student’s current and projected progress, individual and grade-level goals were set. In the afternoon session the four core departments were provided the opportunity to brainstorm and develop action plans to provide a variety of intervention techniques and assistance to students prior to the TAKS administration. The goal is to afford every student the opportunity to receive additional enrichment in areas where they have a need. Parents are strongly encouraged to have their children take advantage of these opportunities. Please take note of upcoming activities:
