Fall Visits to College Campuses
Sessions will cover admissions, housing, financial aid, classroom
& department tours and college life. You will also be able to
attend sessions on special academic interests. Plan your trips
early! Many universities offer campus visits Monday – Saturday and
require reservations 3 days to 2 weeks prior to visit. The
following schools offer special events for prospective students
& their family.

Gates Millennium Scholars Nomination
Awards: Vary. Eligibility: Minority Senior. Requirements: GPA 3.3
Unweighted, demonstrated leadership abilities through participation
in community service, extracurricular or other activities and meets
the federal PELL Grant eligibility criteria. Student must have the
potential to succeed in public health, mathematics, science,
engineering, education, or library science. Requires Nominator who
should focus on academic potential and a Recommender who’s familiar
with nominee’s community service and leadership activities. Apply

The Deadline for Submission of Nomination Materials is as follows:
All paper applications must be postmarked by December 31, 2007. All
online applications must be submitted by January 11, 2008 11:59
p.m. EST.
Texas Student Housing Scholarship
Awards: Up to $2500 per year. Eligibility: Students attending
universities in Austin, College Station, Denton and San Marcos who
will live off campus. Requirements: Official High School
transcript, SAT/ACT scores, GPA on a 4.0 scale. Scholarship
application can be found in either Ms. Melendez’s or Ms. Cantu’s
office. Deadline: Postmarked by January 31, 2008.
University of Houston – Terry Foundation Scholarships
Awards: Vary. Eligibility: Senior planning to attend UH.
Requirements: Apply for admission to UH by February 1, apply for
financial aid (FAFSA) by March 15, demonstrate a record of
leadership and service, strong academic abilities, have financial
need, be unmarried and not have children, two letters of
recommendation, transcript, two short essays, apply for on-campus
housing no later than March 1. Scholarship applications are

Deadline: Postmarked by February 1
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Scholarship
Awards: $1000. Eligibility: Senior ASIAN -applicant must have at
least one parent of Asian/Pacific-Islander heritage; African
American Future Achievers - applicant must have at least one parent
of African American or Black Caribbean heritage; HACER - applicant
must have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage; Scholars - ALL
students may apply regardless of race, color, creed, religion,
sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin. Note:
Asian, African American and Hispanic students are welcome to apply
for the RMHC Scholars program provided they have not applied for
one of the three scholarship programs listed above. Requirements:
Must plan to be enrolled in a two or four-year college in the fall
of 2008 anywhere in the United States. Transcript, class rank,
personal statement of your financial need, copy of parents’ W2
Form, unusual circumstances, career goals & potential
contributions to the community & one letter of recommendation.

University of Texas @ San Antonio-General Scholarship
Awards: $500-$3000. Eligibility: Senior attending UTSA.
Requirements: Must apply to UTSA to be considered for a
scholarship. Scholarship Application available online go to
www.utsa.edu/scholarships. Deadline: Postmarked by February 15
LULAC Rey Feo Scholarship
Awards: $1000. Requirements: Applicant will be considered for the
San Antonio LULAC. Three character references, transcript, 3.5 GPA,
970-SAT or 23-ACT, Personal essay why you desire a LULAC Rey Feo
Scholarship, and one page describing the personal and career goals
your studies are leading to. Download a scholarship application
